At a Jockey Club meeting Lord George Bentinck expressed regret for offensive language in his protest of February 12, and the club declared his statement satisfactory. Belgian chamber scene over tariff debate sparks insults
In the Belgian chamber on April 16, M. Dumortier and M. Rogier clash over a railway tariff. Accusations of favoritism and inflated employment costs arise as Dumortier questions 800,000 francs in gains and cites a supposed 200 new positions, while Rogier denies the charges.
