The session covered coffee duties, adulteration concerns, and a brief note on decorations in the new Commons.
In the St Albans chamber on Tuesday April 16 Henry Edwards petitioned for discharge after a prior remand. The House considered his plea to have submitted to its mercy and endured time in custody while relatives were ill. Sir Frederick Thesiger condemned the alleged bribery as obstructing justice and sought Newgate confinement. The sessional order and prior breaches were read, and the committee’s remit examined amid debate over punishment and future governance.
