Work starts soon with a September 1 finish target to restore streets for winter. The system by W J Ker and Associates of Victoria serves 5,000 residents.
Bernice Ron Beedle died Tuesday after a collapse at about 10:00 AM. Efforts by Fort St John Lumber Co first aid attendant Nelson Wheeler, Acme Oxygen, and artificial respiration failed. She was pronounced dead on arrival at Dawson Creek hospital. A coroner's inquest did not determine cause pending further tests. Survived by husband Ron and two children Selma and Keith. Funeral from Rainier’s Funeral Chapel, Dawson Creek, with Rev. Raul McKinnon officiating. Donations to an ambulance fund welcome.
Central Contractors Ltd of Prince George begins a north side expansion of the Chetwynd Chevron service station including front end and wheel service with new tools and wheel alignment equipment. The building will measure 241 by 34 feet with no new pumps planned. Imperial Oil contemplates re subdivision of land south of the Hart Highway with access roads, a Windrem Creek bridge extension, and a possible traffic light at the police station intersection, subject to Village Commission approval.
