Fire Destroyed Home of Mr and Mrs Charles Caven at Dinner Creek

An early morning fire leveled the home of Charles and Mrs. Caven at Dinner Creek near the PGE Hart Highway crossing, twelve miles east of Chetwynd. Mrs Stella Rosenal reported the blaze after leaving East Pine for work. Fire was out of control when she arrived. no one appeared trapped.

Bank Breakin Ends With Empty Vault

Thieves broke into the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce early Sunday, smashing the front door window and punching out the lock from inside. They gained entry but fled or failed to reach the time locked safe. Only disposable items and a few ballpoint pens were missing.
