Builders in Dawson Creek report two new three bedroom homes by Erwin Homes Ltd and a 19000 dollar office and garage for Westcoast Transmission as mild winter conditions and ready mix concrete push activity ahead. An application for a four unit four two bedroom housekeeping complex near the Kinsmen Playground is under review. Regional CMHC staff are planned to visit Chetwynd soon.

Oil search continues near Peace River with new rig
Oil and gas exploration persists in the Peace River area. Trinity has a rig 17 miles north of Good Seeds Farm on the Jackfishlake Road, moved by Gib Transport in about two weeks. Rumors point to more drilling on the road to Twidwell Bend Crossing and in the Sukunka River Valley, as well as south and west of Dawson Creek.

Lutherns Get New Pastor for Chetwynd and Hudson Hope
The Lutheran congregations of Chetwynd and Hudson Hope welcomed Reverend Daniel Berg, formerly of Verwood, Saskatchewan. He and his wife Freda with their two children will reside in Hudson Hope in a provided trailer and will serve both communities each Sunday. Regular Chetwynd services are pending for one or two weeks as arrangements are finalized.

Sunday Blaze Destroys Trailer In Early Morning Fire
A trailer owned by Fred Fowler was gutted by a fire early Sunday. Fowler lit an oil heater, slept in his car, and awoke to the trailer in flames. Firefighters confined the blaze to the trailer, aided by a protective west wind. Loss estimated at 1500 dollars.

Dawson C of C Protests Lack of Camp Sites North
The Dawson Creek Chamber of Commerce has protested to the Provincial Government over the shortage of camp sites and parks for tourists in northern British Columbia. In over nine hundred miles of main highways there is only one camp site worthy of the name. Years ago the government set aside sites on the Hart and Alaska Highways and at Moberly Lake, but none have been developed.
