Bush Accidents Injure Two Workers in District Camps
Two separate accidents in district lumber camps left two 19 year old men seriously hurt. John Hobber of Groundbirch, a swamper at Great Brothers sawmill south of Chetwynd, suffered broken vertebrae and spinal damage when struck by a falling tree. He received first aid in Chetwynd before transport by ambulance to a Dawson Creek hospital.

Missing Aircraft Expanded Search to Mt Lemoray Area
A single engine two passenger aircraft missing since February 4 on a Whitehorse to Fort St John trip. The search extended to the Mt Lemoray area in Pine Pass west of Chetwynd after a daytime aircraft sound was heard. Pilot ReBs Flores of San Bruno California may have diverted toward Prince George and gone down near LeMoray.

Chetwynd by laws approved to borrow for sewerage and waterworks take over
Official approval arrives from the Department of Municipal Affairs and the Provincial Health for by-law No. 7 to borrow for a sewerage disposal system and by-law No. 8 to allow the Village of Chetwynd to take over the waterworks assets and liabilities. Voters will decide at a special council meeting set for Monday night.

Grade Eleven Not Planned for Chetwynd Schools
Residents in Chetwynd learned on Tuesday that Grade Eleven will not be added to the local school system next fall. Many in the Village and District express concern after voting in favor of a six room addition to Chetwynd Schools, believing Grade 11 would begin. Windrem School has 407 pupils, including 19 in Grade 10.
