Telegrams between the Chetwynd Chamber of Commerce and the Department of Highways report that repair work on the Chetwynd Hudson Hope road will be carried out immediately. Deputy Minister H T Miard confirmed after an emergent meeting on July 24 noting heavy traffic on the final six miles.
Miss Ethel Melafont, longtime missionary in charge at Chetwynd, is posted to the Zion Presbyterian Church at Fort Vermilion in the Peace River Presbytery. She leaves Chetwynd Wednesday and travels east for a holiday visit before resuming duties in Alberta. Rev. P Schnarrenberger will take over the Zion church duties from Miss Melafont.
78 percent of poll voters in the Community Hall favored incorporation as a village with 40 yes and 11 no. The tally represented 61 percent of residents. Returning Officer Wm. Esak and Poll Clerk Mrs J M Grant supervised. Final steps include proclamation and elections for a Chairman and four Commissioners, possible after the New Year. A new Presbyterian pastor Rev Phillip Schwarrenberger takes duties this Sunday replacing missionary Miss Ethel Melafont.
