Land Act notice on homestead requirements in Manitoba

The minutes from the September 1 meeting were adopted. By law No. 19 was read twice and three times. five guardians were appointed: Weeks, Morten, Koskie, Pitke, Willicott, McEachren. A grant of 200 to The British Red Cross was approved and seed grain debt repayment terms were set for farmers. Council approved fire protection measures and safety clothing provisions.

Death of Glen Melven Dated October 9 1917
Glen Melven youngest son of Mr and Mrs G Monsbroten died Tuesday October 9 1917 aged 4 years 4 months. Funeral service was widely attended and many friends expressed sympathy.

Mr and Mrs G Monsebroten express gratitude for kindness and sympathy after their bereavement. The notice notes British merchant ships sunk by submarines and mines last week including 14 ships over 1600 tons and 2 under 1600 tons, plus 4 fishing vessels. Six other British ships were attacked but escaped. Brineb ports saw 2519 ships arrive and 2682 sail.
