A Canadian map of the European War area is issued by the Family Herald and Weekly Star. The four color 2 by 3 foot map shows towns battalions and battle scenes with coats of arms. Subscriptions rise only twenty five cents to 1.25 a year and include a free copy of the map.
The Grand Trunk Railway System announces the resignation of director E. J. Cham this week. Alfred M. Smithers, chairman, states the board regrets the departure and notes the general order issued by G T P president Mowrie aL on August 30, 1917.

On September 8 1917 a meeting discussed running an independent candidate for the coming election a Liberal Lanigan convention endorsement without many supporters knowledge. A unanimous resolution urged Dr Neely to resign and another praised Sir Wilfréd Laurier leadership while delegates from a U G A north of Watrous opposed.
J F Kennedy of Watrous reports two sons in the war with Walter Kennedy wounded in the 196th University Battalion Saskatoon and in a field hospital. Mrs King learns of a brother’s death on active service at the front. Local men return from England and others are listed with various units and injuries.
