Ontario Quebec farmers press for military service act
Ottawa May 14 Farmers from Ontario and Quebec voiced strong support for the Military Service Act. A vast delegation of 2500 Ontario farmers filled the Russel theatre, with 2000 Quebec men outside. Prime Minister said the line on the western front must be held to ensure Allied production and reinforcements reach overseas.

United Farmers Of Alberta Endorses War Exemptions

Mothers Day Observances Highlight Watrous Churches
Mother's Day activities filled the Methodist Church with a large turnout as Rev. J McLachlan led services and Prof. Jeal accompanied. Carnations, ribbons, and a varied program honored mothers and noted sons and daughters support for aging parents. The Presbyterian service drew big crowds with a festive church interior and expressions of appreciation to mothers from the congregations.

Y M C A Red Triangle Campaign success
The Dominion wide Y M C A Red Triangle Campaign greatly surpassed its 2.5 million goal by May 1917 raising 3.097 million. University students of Canada gave 10500 for Prisoners of War relief and Earn and Give Boys contributed 78770. Saskatchewan topped the provinces with over 85000. Watrous fell short with 1500 target, recalling 1200 pledged. Local totals include Watrous 691, Plymouth 139, Venn 249, Amazon 3500, Poplar Park 860, awaiting Renown and Or view. Go To Sunday School Day In Saskatchewan Firmly Backed
The Saskatchewan Sunday School Federation launches its third annual Go-To-Sunday-School Day on May 2 with government endorsement. 19 Year Old Draftees Register for Army in July
Ottawa May 9 The proclamation calls up unmarried men or widowers with no children aged 19 for military service. They must register by June 1 and will not be called before July 1. Actual call will be notified by registered post.
