CANBERRA Friday The mystery surrounding the non arrival by plane in Sydney yesterday of Mr Leslie Blackwell a member of the South African Government was cleared up today by Mr Curtin. Because of military priorities Mr Blackwell departure from Cairo for Australia was delayed. He was due in Sydney on November 10.
Army Minister Mr. Forde announced Lieut-Colonel Sladding returned to Australia after reviewing postal arrangements for the AIF in the Middle East. General Blamey acted on Sladdin’s recommendations to strengthen Army postal operations serving over one million letters one hundred thousand papers and sixty thousand parcels monthly in the front.
Brisbane reports Kevin Shanna Han Priday of Winton aged 23, who renounced his priesthood to join the RAAF. He will join the air crew intake tomorrow after stowing in Rome to pursue priesthood. He recently left Brisbane for Australia in September and formerly worked at the Public Curator's Office in Brisbane and Townsville.
