Tram and Train Collision in Newstead Causes Narrow Escape
In Brisbane on Wednesday tramway motorman Ernest McGuire of Newstead escaped serious injury when a tram collided with a special goods train at a level crossing on Break fast Creek Road Newstead. The tram and a railway van remained locked together for about half an hour before the tram could be freed. The second outward bound Clayfield line tram, empty, struck two wagons and a van from Roma Street to Bulimba, wrecking the cabin and twisting the frame of the tram.

Six Planes Destroyed in Brisbane Hangar Fire
Six aircraft believed destroyed when fire gutted No 2 hangar of Qamsag Airways at Archerfield aerodrome early today. Fire discovered at 11 45, spreading rapidly, staff fought flames but could not save the machines inside. Ground crews and city fire engines arrived but the damage was done. The destroyed planes included two Taylor Cubs, a Klemm, a Leopard Moth, and two Gypsy Moths.

Emma Louisa Roberta, 26, hotel worker, was shot in arm chest and back in Gin Gin. She was taken to Bundaberg hospital in serious condition. Gordon Malcom Roberts, 33, was later arrested on a charge of unlawfully attempting to kill. The couple had been living apart and their three year old daughter was with the wife's parents.
