London. Prime Minister Churchill warned Britain is perilously close to economic bankruptcy, urging a battle for survival as an independent, self supporting nation. He spoke at the Press Association annual lunch, urging resolve as Chancellor of the Exchequer's measures leave Britain teetering between afloat and sinking. The premier said lands rescued in war now must earn their living and Britain must swim against the current to pay its way.
