A Geneva message reports the Spanish government told Senor del Vayo that a German cruiser and two destroyers bombarded Almeria at 7 am as reprisal for the bombardment of the Deutschland. Five German warships and German submarines are said to be active. Berlin claims the Deutschland was bombed, with casualties.
Reports from Melbourne indicate doubts about the fitness of Quist and McGrath after a Lawn Tennis Association of Australia meeting.
