Collins Leads First Stage of Brisbane to Adelaide Air Race

Thirty-one planes started from Archerfield on the Brisbane to Adelaide leg in perfect weather. Most landed at Mascot by afternoon. wind aided fast passages. Collins posted the fastest time at 2 hours 4 minutes, Moody 3 hours 14, Pratt 3 hours 14 minutes. Women flyers featured, including Miss Freda Thompson. A veteran DH biplane, once a Sydney to Perth winner, entered the field.
