Melbourne reports the Lepena made a forced landing on Hunter Island after the pilot mistook a loose fairing for wing bracing failure. Minister for Defence notes the plane remained safe. the fairing was a thin metal cover around the strut attaching joint, and the flight could have continued if a clear landing area had been available.
