Dm., 1,1972Lang, McDaniels named to MIAA offensive squad, Jackson repeats on defenseThree Lincoln University football players have been named to the 1972 Missouri Intercollegiate Athletic Association All-Conference team.Quarterback James Lang and wide receiver John McDaniels were picked for the first offensive team, while linebacker Demetrice Jackson was placed on the No. I defensive unit.McDaniels and Jackson were unanimous picks%Conference co-champion Northwest and fourth-place Northeast each placed sit men on the first units. Third-place Southeast had five. Southwest and the University of Missouri-Roila each had two, while Central Missouri State’s only player selected was defensive back Walter Rhone, who was named the loop’s most valuable player.Lang put together a tremendous senior campaign to lead Lincoln to a 9-1 record and share of the title. During his four years at Lincoln, he completely rewrote the LU passing records.He established records for most completions in a season and career, most yards passing in a season and career and most touchdown passes in a season and career.Lang was the leading passer in the conference this season.McDaniels, who topped the league in receptions and reception yardage, still has two years to go for the Tigers and is destined to become the greatest pass catcher in LU history.The speedy 6-2, 190-pound sophomore established records this year for most receptions in a season and most reception yards in a season and most touchdown passes caught in a season.He already shares the career record for TD receptions with Gabe Coleman (both have 14) and needs only 11 datches and 100 yards next year to own the career records in both departments.This is the second straight year Jackson has been a unanimous pick. The 6-3. 235-pound middle linebacker is expected to go very high in the pro draft in January.He has led LU in tackles the last two seasons.
