Death, vengeance and a haunted vow in a rural saga
In a bleak tale of murder and guilt Rory Slavin clings to a grim vow of revenge after a killing shatters the town. A stranger’s confession and a police raid converge at the protagonist’s home, ending with Rory’s grim pledge before a graveyard scene and a father’s lament for his murdered son Nell Slavin remains pivotal as the tale closes in a cold churchyard.
