Miss Winifred Harris, introduced by Rev. Baggs at SS United Church, described the impact of the war on Chinese regions. She said Szechwan is in Free China with capital at Chhengtu, while Kwei chow and Unonan are still free, and Japan occupies or bombards many eastern provinces. She plans a speaking tour through Newfoundland towns before returning to Toronto and China.

General Tire reveals carbon black rubber processing advance

The General Tire and Rubber Company disclosed a new process to add carbon black to liquid rubber, speeding production of military tires and hastening civilian tire replacement. Benefits include a 35 percent milling time reduction, similar cuts in manpower, 20 percent power savings, and lower costs.
