The U S delegation of naval and army experts has been inspecting prospective sites for naval and aerial bases in Newfoundland. They report close cooperation with the Commission of Government and are exploring the best means to safeguard areas under America's responsibility. No decisions have been made. Rear Admiral J W Greenslade leads the group and expresses appreciation for the reception and courtesies shown.
Official notice states DST ends tomorrow night with clocks set back one hour. The change reflects standard time resumption as fall approaches.
The Governor in Commission approves further regulations under the Defence Act 1939. Dated October 11, 1940, Ww. J. Carew, Secretary of the Commission of Government, signs the notice outlining new regulatory provisions.
The order forms part of Defence (Alarm) Regulations dated 26 July 1940. It prohibits any light display within defence alarm areas during an alarm unless extinguished or dimmed to avoid visibility, and restricts lights inside enclosed buildings when unoccupied if visible from outside. The regulations may be cited as Defence (Alarm) No. 2.
