Second Letter of Dr Dowley describes a doomed voyage on Cape Sohn Chuil island. In a chilling December 1 1867 message he details hunger thirst and exposure as the group clings to canvas shelters while drowning winds threaten their survival.
The letter from December 24 1867 describes a man and his wife awaiting rescue on an island. He details icy seas, soaked clothes, and frozen feet, pleading for a reunion with his wife and children. He laments fear, isolation, and the possibility they may never meet again, expressing longing and love.
