Attend Marsha Hall on Tuesday May 9 for church supper served by South Side United Church men. Menu includes fish cakes or Boston baked beans with ice cream for sale. Doors open 7 30 pm. Price 25 cents.
Our mailmen could not reach Newstead from Summerford on Tuesday or Wednesday and returned. They attempted a special trip because the Clyde was delayed by ice conditions. The last snow left about two feet of slush on rotten ice, hindering boat hauling. Further notice will appear with mail closing details once available.
Confederation Life The agent Gladys Mosher plans to take freight north and may land en route to Pilley s Island. Schooners have run from St John s toward the south for about a month with the Winifred Lee sailing to Wesleyville three weeks ago.
Tender call for labour only on construction of a new wing addition to the hospital. Concrete block and wood to be used with preference to the block maker as work proceeds. Details at Mr. Robert Primmer North Side Twillingate. Tenders due in Hospital office by 6:00 pm Wednesday May 17 1939.
Tenders are invited for 8 inch and 4 inch concrete blocks about 3000 in number, plus lintels and sills for a hospital addition. Include price per 100 blocks and per lintel and sill. Tenders must be in the Hospital office by 6.00 pm Wednesday May 10 1939. Lowest or any tender not necessarily accepted.

St. Peters holds 8 am Holy Communion and 11 am communion with address followed by 7 pm Evensong. St Andrews offers 11 am Matins and 7 pm Evensong. United Church on South Side has 11 am Layman service and 2:30 Sunday School and Bible Class with 7 pm Rev. T J Pitt. Little Harbour and North Side Jilam host 3 pm and 2:30 pm Sunday School with 7 pm Layman and Rev. T J Pitt. Salvation Army conducts 1 am Holy Service 3 pm Praise Service and 7 pm Salvation Service led by Adjt Rideout. All welcome.
Mr. Robert Boyd traveled with a team over rough ice in the Bight for a round trip. The ice has since cleared, allowing boats to operate. The SS Northern Ranger is slated to depart St John’s next Wednesday while the Clyde will sail as soon as ice conditions allow.
