A note of thanks is published admitting the omission of the Junior Red Cross Central School from a Christmas gift listing. The organization donated parcels of fruit and candy to hospital children, and the notice gratefully acknowledges their generosity.
Various churches list service times for St. Peter's St. Andrew's United Church Salvation Army and Pentecostal Assembly. Times include Holy Communion Matins Sunday School Bible Class Evensong Lay Reader and evangelistic services with officers in charge. Services held on the South and North Sides Crow Head Little Harbour and surrounding areas.
A newspaper promotion urges vigilance in spending and saving. It highlights getting full value for every dollar and saving a fair percentage of earnings, encouraging readers to open an account at Newfoundland Savings Bank if their name is not yet listed.
The Commissioner for Natural Resources orders all salt importers and dealers to report salt stocks on hand or en route as of February 28 1946. Returns must be sent to the Newfoundland Fisheries Board by March 15 1946 or by collect telegram with a confirming letter. All persons including merchants and fishermen must respond. inaccurate returns incur heavy penalties. A copy of the Order is printed below.
A 1946 notice under Defence Regulations requires all salt traders in Newfoundland or Labrador with twenty hogsheads or more in possession to file a written return with the Newfoundland Fisheries Board. The form asks for storage sites and hogshead counts, salt in transit between Newfoundland ports, and external purchase commitments with shipment ports and dates.
The order requires list of salt held or ordered by any person with name and address and quantities. Signatures must accompany the particulars and be delivered by March 15 1946 at the Newfoundland Fisheries Board office in St John s or by post if on the Avalon Peninsula. Non residents must telegraph to the Board by March 15 1946 and send written confirmation within 24 hours.
