Ashbournes Ltd reports a message from Job Bros St Johns seeking 50 sealers to join the Neptune. If enough applicants arrive through Ashbournes Ltd, the Neptune will request them locally.
A body of seals, mainly old and young, gathered offshore this week as westerly winds limited hauls. On Thursday crews managed to harvest up to 50 seals, with a stretch of sight extending 10 miles offshore and 4 miles from the inner edge. With calmer winds, hoods and harps could yield better catches, and even slight ice slack could aid boats. Mr. Wm. Hamlyn and a crew of three landed 19 seals on Thursday.
The Salvation Army announces a full Sunday program with an 11 a.m. holiness meeting, 2 p.m. Sunday School and Bible class, a 3 p.m. address to members of the L. O. A., 6:40 p.m. prayer meeting, and a 7 p.m. salvation meeting. All are welcome at Confederation Life.
