Sealing Report From Long Point Area Creek

Sealing prospects last week looked good for a haul of seals near Long Point with many old seal families. A dozen bedlamers were taken Saturday by Crow Head men as winds turned light and the bay iced over. Ice rubble along the shore and heavy seas have hindered sightings though a few seals appeared Thursday about ten miles northwest. Ships remain about 50 miles east of Cape Bauld as sealers watch for a patch of old and young seals and await clearer conditions for a more complete report.
