The Governor in Commission on June 5 1942 issued regulations calling for returns of salt sales. Salt is defined as salt used or capable of being used in curing or processing fish. Dated St John s June 5 1942 by W J Carew secretary of the Commission of Government.
The text requires all salt sellers to maintain detailed sale registers for every transaction over one hogshead. It mandates weekly and June 20 1942 reporting to the Newfoundland Fisheries Board, listing buyer details delivery location contract price and payment type. Penalties include up to 500 dollars per offence and up to six months imprisonment. The rules are titled Defence Salt Control Regulations No 2 1942 and read with We Defence Regulations 1942.

Merchants of Twillingate authorize shop and store closures for the usual Summer Holidays on Wednesday July 1 and Thursday July 9 and every following Thursday in July and August. Half holidays in September close at noon. A full holiday on November 11. Clocks set forward one hour to Daylight Saving Time effective midnight June 30 1942.

The ladies of St Hilda's Guild in Grand Falls gave a miscellaneous shower for Miss Rita Harnett, Monday week, in honor of her upcoming marriage to Mr. George Sanders. Miss Joan Hartnett now works at the Bank of Montreal in Grand Falls.
Temple Baird assistant superintendent in the Forestry Unit married Miss Anderson of London in London. Harold Anstey wed Miss Eleanor Grindley of Glasgow in Glasgow.
