Lifeboat Crew Rescues Clandeboye Passengers Near Savannah
A lifeboat crew led by First Mate Hayes and including Carpenter Jehan and Seamen Donnelly and Olsen set out from the Clandeboye after its April 2 departure from RTC Bahamas with patent fuel and general cargo. Facing head winds and a damaged rudder, they drifted 200 miles in the Gulf Stream seeking tug aid, renewing a rude repair and finally steering toward Savannah where two tugs were engaged to tow the vessel for repairs. Seventeen aboard remain safe for now, though storm risk endangers all if weather worsens.
