Woodcutting pay in Bowater agreement criticized
A letter laments the six to twelve month FIA Bowaters accord with the Government, arguing current wood prices fail workers. It notes Port Hope Simpson prices at 4.75 per cord for clean peeled wood and suggests raises to 4.80 or 5.00 to reflect work, while rough wood sells easier. The writer warns of strikes and urges union talks to improve conditions for summer logging and drum barkers.
