Public Notice of North West Brook Water Power Lease
An application dated December 11, 1942 from United Towns Electric Company of St John’s seeks a Crown Lands Act lease to divert and develop water power from North West Brook and Little St Lawrence watershed for electrical energy. The plan includes dams, canals, a 1000 HP turbine, forebay, 48 wood stave pipes, transmission lines, and multiple ponds. about 250 acres of Crown land would be flooded and 22 acres reserved for works. No chemicals or deleterious substances are involved in the project.
