Lorne Bruce infant son of Mrs Simeon King died at the hospital on December 21.
Emily Roberts wife of Capt Francia Roberts and ex magistrate died after paralysia at 66. She was a devoted housewife mother from Misa Terra ville Fogo married Dec 31 48 years ago. Funeral held at home and United Church Cemetery B B Head with Rev T J Pitt. Survived by husband three sons Hackery Laurie and Frank two daughters Emily and Joyce.
Gratitude expressed for varied Christmas donations to patients including Mrs. W. Mifflin of Catalina 2500, Dr. Wood of Twillingate 1000, Major Wight 200, Rev. Pitt 200, and many others from Moreton's Arm to Ashbourne Twillingate and Jubilee Guild. Items range from money to toys fruit candy and stockings.

Dorcas Anstey wife of the late John Anstey died aged 73 after a brief illness following a night of otherwise good health. She leaves six sons Daryl Malcolm Edward Dunley Stanley and Jeonard six sons and one daughter Florence in New York and one daughter Sophia in Summerford along with many relatives. She was an Anglican member. Funeral at St Peter's this afternoon conducted by Rev J Goodland. The SUN offers sympathy to the Anstey family and relatives.
Collectors list North Side and Back Harbour contributions for Confederation Life fund totals. Names include Abbott Linfield Facey Hodge and many Ansteys Rob erts and Price families. North Side total 12880 while Back Harbour totals 23.55 with multiple small contributions listed.
The Civil Service increases in monthly war bonuses for married officials range from 25 dollars for those under 1500, 19 dollars for 1500 to 2000, and 12 dollars for 2500 to 3000. Single officials receive similar sums. The raises, intended to aid higher living costs, are temporary as the government did not grant full salary increases.
