Lent Sunday schedule lists Holy Communion at 2 a.m. and 10 a.m. services, Matins, Evensong, Sunday School at 2.30 p.m., Children’s Service at 3 p.m., and a 7 p.m. Evensong. An important Boy Scout meeting is announced for Friday at 8 p.m. All members urged to attend.

A British Army recruitment notice invites men to join the Royal Artillery and fight for King and country, outlining service and duty.
The War Office via the Dominion Affairs secretary calls Newfoundland to raise volunteers for the Royal Artillery for the war. Eligible men aged 20 to 35 with specific height weight and medical standards may enlist, receive pay starting at 2 shillings daily, free board and kit, and opportunities for promotion. Married men receive allowances. single men prioritized. Transportation to St John’s provided.
Unmarried men must show Birth Certificates, married men Birth Certificates, Marriage Certificates, and children's Birth Certificates if any. Residents of St John’s area apply in person or in writing to the Recruiting Officer, King George the Fifth Seaman's Institute, Water Street East. Office hours are 10am to noon and 3pm to 5pm daily except Sundays and holidays.
Harbours formed ice twice this month but rough water limited crossing. Coldest days below zero. thermometers sit around 15 above. Winds drive ice offshore while nights slow shore thaw. Seals departed as nets come up. over a thousand old seals are reported for Twillingate Tatande. No ice in the Bay this week and the Rans are clear.
Mr. Robert Saunders of 8 Winnes Street East Orange New Jersey sent last month a unique book compiling articles from Canadian and American papers on the royal visit to the continent. The volume includes clip art and illustrations with a full account of the journey and is open for public viewing at the office. Saunders authored the page two piece in the Newfoundlander, sister publication to the country’s only Lady Barrister and Solicitor Miss L M Saundese tat St. Joho’a.
