Partial lunar view and legal tax ruling in 1924 notes
Observers saw a partial lunar arc Sunday evening with Earth's shadow passing at 8 pm and the full moon reappearing. In the Supreme Court Justice Kent ruled for the Finance and Customs Minister against Sir Edgar Bowring over a 123000 dollar income tax dispute, with Chief Justice and Justice Johnson concurring. The case concerns investments held by Bowring, with an appeal to the Privy Council anticipated. Rumors say Bowring has resigned from the Legislative Council. Government invites bids at the Bank of Montreal for four million dollars in Government Bonds at five percent interest under the 1924 Loan Act, while local commentary urges transparent public finances and businesslike handling of money matters. Harbor Grace petition for a government bond store is said ineffective per Harbor Grace Standard due to new law.
