The notice lists 14th Sunday after Trinity services at St. Peters St Andrew and Uniped Church. St Peters offers Holy Communion at 8 am Matins at 11 am Sunday School at 2 30 pm and Evensong at 7 pm. St Andrews has Matins at 11 am and Evensong at 7 pm. Uniped Church on South Side has Layman meetings at 11 am 2 30 pm Sunday School and Bible Class and a 7 pm Layman service with further Laymen sessions at Little Harbour North Side and Men’s Fellowship.

John Price aged 86 suddenly fell ill with paralysia last week. Four sons and grandsons came from the interior to be with their very sick father.

Public Hunting Licences 1940 Issuance Rules Announced
The Department will issue limited hunting licences for caribou or moose in specified areas from September 1 to 30 and October 21 to November 30, 1940. Fees are non resident 2500 dollars and resident 5 pounds. bag limits one stag caribou or one bull moose. Licences granted by priority of applications with area, dates, and guides details. British Empire Medal for Meritorious Service
The London Gazette published on 13 August 1940 that Maurice Holden of U S Empire Commerce received the Civil Division British Empire Medal for Bravery. He rescued an engineer from drowning after a ship sank in an explosion in the North Sea. Holden was born in Newfoundland and lives at 41 Princes Street St Johns.

Motor boat lands foresters from Lewisport arrive
