The Governor in Commission announces new emergency regulations under the Defence Act of 1940. Dated at St John’s July 23, 1942, with W M Marshall acting secretary in the Commission of Government.
The 1941 amendments under the Emergency Powers Act rephrase key terms. Lockout now covers plant closures, work suspensions, or refusals to employ to pressure terms. Strike defines work stoppage by workers to compel changes. Workman expands to any contract worker across services. A new Regulation 6A restricts employers during settlements from lockouts or hiring under unstable terms.
The text forbids a workman from striking against an employer covered by a settlement and bans inciting employers or workers to lockout or strike. It emphasizes adherence to the terms of any settlement, agreement, decision, or award and prohibits encouraging participation in labor actions.
The N P A Entertainment Committee hosted Jack Dalley at the Harbour View Hotel on Thursday night. Dalley volunteered for the navy but has joined the Militia Force at St John’s for now. Speeches by Rev T J Pitt T G W Ashbourne and Rev J Goodland, a gift from N P A, Mrs A J Wood spoke for W R A and gave money. Mrs Wm Pyne provided refreshments. The National Anthem closed the event around 11.
Brownies are asked to assemble at Club Robin on Monday the 10th at 3 30 p.m. Brown Owl will lead the gathering.
A meeting of the W. P. A. is called for Tuesday night at 8 o'clock. All members are requested to attend. Secretary.

Mr Claude Hicks operates a seasonal boat service to Fredericton and other eastern points. The Annual Picnic of St Peter's Sunday School occurred on Thursday. The Salvation Army also held a sale on Thursday.

The Salvation Army announces a Sunday program with an 11 a.m holiness meeting, 2 p.m Sunday School and Bible, 3 p.m praise service, 6 30 p.m March 7 p.m salvation meeting. All welcome.
