Defence Regulation Amendments Define Lockout and Strike Terms
The 1941 amendments under the Emergency Powers Act rephrase key terms. Lockout now covers plant closures, work suspensions, or refusals to employ to pressure terms. Strike defines work stoppage by workers to compel changes. Workman expands to any contract worker across services. A new Regulation 6A restricts employers during settlements from lockouts or hiring under unstable terms.

Farewell for Jack Dalley by N P A at Harbour View
The N P A Entertainment Committee hosted Jack Dalley at the Harbour View Hotel on Thursday night. Dalley volunteered for the navy but has joined the Militia Force at St John’s for now. Speeches by Rev T J Pitt T G W Ashbourne and Rev J Goodland, a gift from N P A, Mrs A J Wood spoke for W R A and gave money. Mrs Wm Pyne provided refreshments. The National Anthem closed the event around 11.
