A meeting of the W P A will be held on Thursday May 3 at the stated time and place. D Hopper is the secretary.
The Newfoundland Fisheries Board announces sale of secondhand 40 to 50 gallon barrels formerly used for fats and oils. 1000 barrels available immediately, with 2000 more per month if needed. Price is 2.25 dollars per barrel f o b Toronto. Orders go to the Canadian Government Trade Commissioner in St Johns. Barrels may only be used for Hard Cure Split Herring under UNRRA contract and not for U S shipments.
John Wineham aged 33 died at the Arm and was laid to rest on Thursday after a funeral at the South Side United Church led by Rev. S Baggs. At St John’s, Mrs Joseph Hussey née Selina Burton a native of the Arm.

Tenders in sealed envelopes marked Tenders for School Extension to G E Willis Secretary The Bishop's Falls Central Ink School Board. The lowest tender not necessarily accepted.
All members of Loyalty Lodge No 5 are called to assemble at 5 p.m. Sunday May 6 at their hall to attend a Divine Service at the North Side United Church by order of the W M.
