Grant Rebate On Salt Used
In April 1936 the Government announced ending direct financial aid to fishermen and pursuing industry reorganization. A twelve member committee studied salt trade and recommended a rebate of at least 1.00 per hogshead for 1937, with rules for claims, storage, invoicing, and sharing among fishermen. A standing salt committee is proposed to monitor costs and prices.
