Muddy Bay Renamed to Gordon in Labrador Honor

The Newfoundland Gazette announces Muddy Bay near Cartwright will be renamed Gordon after Rev. Henry Gordon in recognition of his Labrador Coast service. He built Labrador’s first public school at Muddy Bay, now home to about sixty children many of whom are orphans after the Spanish Flu. The orphanage school now is run and funded by the International Grenfell Association. Also noted are health updates on Mr. James Young and medical staff arrivals at the hospital, Dr. Elbert Caldwell and Nurse Florine Thomason.
