Destructive Fire at Vyborg Amid Wooded Town
A fierce blaze swept through Vyborg a Finnish seaport town where wooden buildings and pitch exports aided rapid spread. The fire began in a watchmaker’s wooden building on the parade ground and. after hours of effort the flames were checked near the thirteenth house. Several structures were destroyed or damaged, with heavy losses in furniture and stock. The incident recalls a major 1793 fire in the same town.
