Inquest in Fleet Prison Reports Natural Death of Hampton
An inquest in the Fleet Prison reported Mr. John Hampton aged eighty died of asthma that ended in dropsy while under care of prison surgeon Mr Samuel Cooper. Hampton, a Chancery prisoner, was admitted January last after refusing to surrender property. Verdict: natural death.
