Ireland and England tax debate and personal defiance
In a Cork lecture Cossett and Coppett are critiqued over Irish export taxation and misery. The piece notes Irish produce is consumed in England, taxes paid by English consumers, and argues misgovernment cripples Irish purchasing power while Ireland’s exports fund English taxation. It then praises Coppett’s reply to the Printers' Association as a defiant retort to oppression, and comments on Lambeth election qualification for Archbishop of Canterbury. The column surveys British and French political discourse, flagging cabinet rumors and ministerial stability in France.
