Prisoner Confesses Intent to Shoot Prosecutor at Trial
Mr Thomas Meredith testifies that the seized prisoner called the prosecutor an assassin and demanded the pistol be handed over. The constable says the weapon was heavily loaded with slugs and the prisoner admitted plans to shoot Mr Hughes. The prisoner says dismissal harmed his family and he came to Newgate ready for trial.

Glasgow Magistrates respond to Lyndhurst letter over social status
In Glasgow on Aug 21 1835 the Lord Provost and magistrates rally to defend the honour of the Glasgow magistracy against Lord Lyndhurst's remarks in Parliament. They demand the name of the informant and reject perceived misrepresentations, urging protection of municipal authority and social standing.
