Government Jobbr ing in the Contemporary Press
A Times derived critique decries widespread government graft and abuses in public service reform. It highlights lighthouse dues as a case study, detailing private profits from leases and transfers to Trinity House, and argues for pubblico benefit through reduced costs and equitable administration. The piece contrasts these findings with Greenwich Hospital’s forelands and critiques monetary policy and a proposed national bank as a remedy for corruption.

The circular from Oct 6 1884 clarifies that authorities continue authority over parish relief where no board exists, and that old Acts including 3 William and Mary and 9 George I remain in force in limited cases.
