Vice-Chancellor’s Court and Master of the Rolls rulings

Proceedings in Geary v Moody show Geary seeking leave to react to evidence including witnesses and documents from the late Geary & Moody partnership at Mitford. The Master of the Rolls ordered the cause to stand for hearing on a prior date. The Rolls Court then dismissed the bill against personal estate with costs but allowed action against executors for mismanaging funds by mortgaging and ordering proceeds reinvestment in 3 percent stock.

Insolvent Debtor Court Hears Ward and Others

In Bowens court John Ward a livery-stable keeper from Haymarket faced evidence on a loan from Mr Toohey and other财 facts. Commissioner Owen remanded Ward for five months after finding the debtor had diverted property to diminish creditors. John Irvin faced imprisonment for six months for concealing assets from a creditor and misusing funds. Henry Whiting, formerly a Bank of England clerk and signer of one pound notes, had his case adjourned to seek terms with creditors while the court noted his ample income and possible dismissal if terms fail.
