Salmon Chase Ends With Four Mile Tangle
Walter Thorburn pursued a hard running salmon on the Tweed near New Water below Innerleithen. The fish darted downstream pulling line from Thorburn, who battled a submerged forest and quicksand. Thorburn sank to the waist before being freed after twenty minutes, then recovered his rod and finally landed the salmon after a chase of nearly four miles.
