A Thursday vestry at St John’s Westminster chose two churchwardens for the coming year with Joseph Carter Wood and others proposed. Wood led initial polling though Wright had zero votes. Separate meeting at St Margaret’s Westminster elected Jobo White chair and Robert Hrgan with William Forty to serve as churchwardens without opposition. A cholined excerpt notes a smuggling incident near Weston Mouth and a fatal plasterer accident on Stonecutter Street where Thomas Cox fell headfirst from a ladder, killing him. his wife witnessed the scene.
In the May 16 session of the House of Lords a dispute arises over an appeal between Craig UW, the Duke of Hamilton, and others. The Lord Chancellor notes the amount in dispute is about 34 pounds and questions why counsel advised an appeal with costs likely exceeding 100 pounds. He suggests affirming the lower court’s decision with full costs and regrets not personally visiting the party who advised the appeal.

Three men Robert Arch James Bentley and James Rendell left Bristol on a plunder seek ing spree dividing fourpence in every shilling and robbed a labourer of 137 1 72 6d at Brent Fair Bentley recovered the money and pursued the trio to Exeter where they were handed over to authorities Constable Sparks led the inquiry and all three were committed to trial on the robbery charge.

Also reports the price of brown sugar at 298 44d per cwt for the week ending May 14, excluding duties.
A Milton street committee meeting at Mr Webb's Well Tavern arranged a dinner at Highbury barn Tavern on Tuesday to celebrate the first anniversary of the trial by jury verdict in the Culley case. Seventeen silver cups will be presented to jurymen after the cloth is removed. A procession from Milton street to Islington will precede the march to the tavern. A silver pen will be given to secretary Mr Reynolds and a silver medal to chairman Mr Mackenzie, with names of newspapers praised for defending the verdict.
The court opened at the usual hour amid a crowded room. Proceedings focused on a second charge dated March 25, 1892, alleging coal shipments from the Alban to a Turkish vessel amid crowded harbors in Constantinople. Lieutenant Walker led his defense as Arabs and others watched the proceedings.

The Morning Advertiser notes expected approval of the report.
