The piece warns of spurious imitations and lists agents and locations across London for authentic products.
Pozzi the Italian was charged with threatening Signor Ventura after an altercation over alms. Ventura said beggar gangs harass his countrymen. Pozzi refused to leave, entered his home, and threatened to kill once freed. The magistrate ordered bail. In a separate case James Macdonnell faced theft charges involving Mrs. Ann Jones. the magistrate discharged him on his undertaking to return the money.
Archbishop of Dublin requires ratified bonds from candidates promising not to preach in any diocese without bishop consent. The Caledonian Mercury notes the first day of polling at Leith with the Lord Advocate leading by 295 over Sir David Milne who withdrew later. Polls close at Leith after early voting, with Musselburgh and Portobello already closed. Lord Advocate’s majority stood at 304 after all votes. historical comparisons show shifts since 1834 and May 1834. The Lord Advocate planned to depart for London to attend parliamentary duties on the 12th.
The May 9 session reports major changes in prison benches and guard allocation at the Lyons defendants trial. James Stirling was brought before Rev John Fanshawe at Barking Essex on a charge of violating 85 year old widow Mrs Everett of Stock near Chelmsford. The act occurred as she returned home from Wrickford, leaving her grievously injured. Suspect apprehended at a Barking beer shop and remanded for Chelmsford bench inquiry.
An inquest in Nottingham heard Matilda Coleman, a 20 year old who was dumb and mentally weak, died after her sister’s clothing caught fire while the sister briefly left the parlour. The death was ruled accidental.
