A dense OCR fragment lists shops and goods in London including Savory a Watchmaker and Goldsmith at 47 Carpit? Street and Frampton’s Pill of Health. It mentions extensive silver wares, jewelry, watches, coffee house ads, and health remedy promotions with generic pricing in guineas.
In 1685 at Lancaster Summer Assizes Lord Abbyer presided over Forp v Stone. The action claimed the Lancashire sheriff failed to retain a prisoner under a writ, contending the plaintiff’s letter named Bateman and Mee as special executors. The court held the plaintiff’s letter superseded the sheriff’s authority, exonerating the sheriff from liability after the escape and bail bond.
Before Justice Williams a motion to extend court summary jurisdiction to compel an attorney, engaged in nonprofessional business but whose professional character justified employment, to pass a libelary registrar’s account and pay dues. Counsel cited authorities. judge granted rule to show cause, amid doubt.
