extraordinary at glasgow shipbuilding adds to canal boats

A new iron passenger boat, seventy six feet long with airy cabins and capacity for 120, was shipped from Glasgow for a Lancashire canal route between Manchester and Kendal. Built by the Aisley canal boats, it travels ten miles an hour at fares of three farthings a mile, and is expected to halve coach and rail fares on the Manchester Liverpool line, saving travelers 20,000 to 30,000 annually.
