In a June 19 1837 letter to the editor, PUBLIUS urges a truly national, centralized representation built from metropolitan leadership to mobilize working men across towns. He cites Canada’s patriotic example, warns against Whig drift, and calls for a practical, enduring association to advance concrete reforms.
Hampden rose as a fearless defender of parliamentary rights opposing royal taxes. He refused ship money, faced royal pressure and a long treason trial, and though defeated legally, became known as Patriot Hampden, father of his country, in the late 1630s and early 1640s.

The judge deems the order unjust and potentially improper, urging discharge at the defendant's cost while noting Madame Vestris' personal interest in the suit and the need to restore the status quo.
In a Middlesex nisi prius suit the plaintiff tailor sought 2141 from the executors of Captain Nesbitt for articles of wearing apparel bought between 1825 and 1830. The jury, after extensive testimony on Nesbitt’s income and life in the Life Guards, found the items not proven to be necessaries and returned a verdict for the defendants.
