A woman named Anne Shirley found a male infant deserted in Middle Mountjoy Street between eleven and twelve on Tuesday night. On Tuesday a male child was dropped in the guard-room of the Royal Artillery Barracks by Mary Wood after a woman borrowed her cloak and bonnet to leave the newborn with the barracks father claimed to be an artilleryman. The nurse waited hours, adopted a plan to place the child at the barracks, and remains in durance at Arranquay police-office pending discovery of the mother.
